Kemper Center Grounds
The
Kemper Center consists of the sprawling 250,000 square feet of buildings
which include a historic house/museum known as Durkee Mansion, an
arts center and museum known as Anderson Arts
Center, an artist-in residence house and classrooms, known as
Kid’s Space, The Kemper Hall Conference Center, four rental
halls, wedding chapel, and offices rented by various business and
community-based organizations.
Kemper’s primary facility began in 1861
as an upper class Kenosha residence (known as Durkee Mansion), and
became Kemper Hall, a private girl’s school, in 1871. Over
its history, various additions were made to the facility and most
of the buildings were joined together.
Each year hundreds of thousands of people visit
the Kemper grounds and programs. Whether it is a jazz concert, a
classical music series, a new art exhibit, a wedding, business,
civic or social meeting, employer training, workshops, tennis match,
soccer match, Christmas at Kemper, or just a day in the park, Kemper
Center offers much for everyone!
